Moti Lal Nehru College was established in 1964 with only 200 students to begin with. Since then, the college has come a long way. The college is now a learning hub for 2000 students offering a wide range of courses in Science, Humanities, Arts and Commerce. The college is named after freedom fighter Pandit Motilal Nehru. The College has continually worked to fulfill its commitment to provide education to all by preserving ideals such as equality and liberty in its students. Located in the south campus near Dhaula Kuan, the college is next to South Campus of Delhi University and Venkateshwara College. It is connected through a good network of D.T.C buses and is very easily accessible.
The history department of the college has been one of the most happening departments of the college. In 2006 the department organized a national seminar/workshop on "Exploring Delhi", which was a huge success and it got applaud from the President of India and the Prime Minister as well.
Library- The College Library consists of a book section comprising about 50000 books, an extensive reference section providing access to periodicals and journals, computer system for online work and an Audio-Visual System too. The college also has a provision of a Book Bank for its students.
Societies- The students societies have given the student life in the college its characteristic flavor. The college environment is forever bustling with stimulating activities such as fests, plays, lectures, quizzes, seminars, educational trips and workshops. Moti Lal Nehru College's choreography team has won many awards and prizes in various competitions.
Sports-The college provides a good infrastructure for various sports such as Foottball, Volleyball, Badminton, Swimming, Basketball, Boxing, and Judo. The boxing team has won many competitions and is known for its rigor and discipline.
Courses offered in the college:
Candidates with 10+2 are eligible. Once the cut off lists come out, the admission is done according to the merit of the candidate. The department of English conducts an entrance for admission in B.A. (Hons.) in English. Other than this, the sports and ECAS announce their criteria for eligibility in the first week of June for candidates with achievements in Sports and ECAs. Candidates who have fared well in the sports and have certificates related to swimming, basketball, football, tennis, boxing, judo, volleyball are given special sports quota preference.
The forms and prospectus for admission are available from 1st to 15th June every year. The college has entrance test for admissions in B.A. (Hons.) in English. The information about the entrance can be collected from the college office.
The College will be open on the 16th of July,2007, and the evening college begins at 3.30 p.m. as per the Time Table to be notified.
The college admissions happen as per the cut off lists announced in the last week of June. The cut offs in Aditi Mahavidyalaya are not sky rocketing and sports and ECA's quota also come in handy for those students with achievements in the 10+2 level.
